Dearest Family,After alot of damp, cold weather it at last looks like spring today and is most welcome. Hope that the Morgans got everything moved successfully -- it sure was like winter last Sunday when we thought of you moving your big things. Wendy's drawings arrived in good shape on Monday along with your card, Catherine and your note came yesterday -- thanks for all.
Sorry to hear that Arizona has had more floods which complicates things for the commuters across the bridges. Did you know that Jim Wise's parents are moving to Tempe as soon as they are able to sell their house up near Toledo. Jim told me that his sister has had several houses in mind for them but they haven't been able to leave as yet. Appreciated the pictures you sent from the paper about the high water. Hope you like the Famolare sandals you got with the floral delivery money at Easter. (I really like my pair of Famolares but wish they weren't so heavy -- I feel clumsy in them but they are comfortable.
It was good talking to Serena -- she always seems to anticipate our plans to call her and beats us to the punch but we may win yet -- so glad that she had a nice weekend in Michigan and glad to get news of the Davis family. Too bad that Bobbie is having more problems but hopefully will soon be much better. Glad that Dad was home when she called this time.
Appreciated the letter from John and Carol so soon after their return and in a way sorry that the house deal fell through but guess it opens the way for better things especially when there were problems involving the driveway sharing one among other things. Dad really appreciated the enclosures on Park Bank.
The articles you sent from the Madras paper were most interesting Catherine -- I had never heard of AWANA and plan to pass it on to Jim Wise. Also shared the article on Elliott Roosevelt with Mr. Fenwick who was here for dinner last night. He too had worked a Wright Patterson during the war. It is amazing how much Elliott looks like his father.
Please tell Wendy that we put her drawings in a special place in the kitchen where we can see them often and wish that we could see her at work and play. Anxious to hear how she likes her new home and adapts to it. Sorry that her clown didn't arrive for Easter but it really wasn't Easterish anyway so guess it didn't matter.
Our last night of this session of Spanish class is tonight and we have a test again which we are rather fearful but amazed how much we have been exposed to in seven short weeks. There are no grades taken or given but we hate to show too much ignorance. They are planning a second session to follow immediately and many of our class are continuing (five out of 16 have dropped out including MV but she does help us at home), Virginia Walker will be going to Spain before the last lessons end but she thought she would still take them possibly -- she is going with her sister to visit Nancy -- not particularly anxious to go at this time for she is staying such a short time in order to be back to make final plans for Betty Ann's wedding. Audrey Terrell who is also in the class will be taking a week or two off as she is going to Greece to visit a friend there. Another member of the class was in Mexico over Easter vacation with her family visiting a brother and sister-in-law so she put her Spanish to good use and brought back alot of interesting comments, etc.
Last Saturday night the "Messingers" gave a concert at the Church, they had gone all-out on decorations including a continuous fountain for background. Sunday noon we ate out at the new restaurant in Wilmington (nothing too exciting) and the ladies went to the last music program at the High School, while Grandma and I made some calls at Extended Care and the County Home, where Faye Thornburg is . . . she always tells us how she recalls you children in action when you had the WNJ route.
[Love, etc.]
