Discovered we had a short in our camera, which was the cause for not working.  On our last roll -- of which this is 1 -- we got 11 of the 12 pictures.

Had our church Christmas program this morning -- the younger classes had short parts.  Then Santa Claus (Doc Hause) passed out the treats.

Going to put our tree up this afternoon.  The girls are anxious to start.

Had dinner at Shef's today -- adults are now $1.  -- He is going to close up for 2 wks on Wed. & go to Florida.

Here we are -- The Hortons over & all fine.  Rained all day.  Bk [breakfast] at Ripley & lunch near Corbin & supper here at 7 PM.  Lots of curves.  The kids are full of energy.

1958 Kyung Ho Kim Letter -April 10

April 10, '58

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Uible:

I am very glad having an opportunity to write to you again.

I am wondering how are you getting along?  And are your family all well?  I really must write to tell you how much I enjoyed my stay at your house.  You were so very friendly and hospitable that I felt as if I were in my own home.  It was such fun visiting with your family & sharing your hospitality.

I always appreciate your kindness very much for such an enjoyable time.  I shall not forget all you and your lovely children have done for me.

Throughout the country, as spring came up this way.  There was sunshine and rain . . . . clear skies and cloudy . . . . warm breezes and winds that were snow and sleet-laden.  We are beginning to enjoy lovely wether, aren't we?

In my next letter I am going to write more about my classes in school and social life.

Please give my best regards to all your club members and tell lovely your daughters that I said "Well Hi."

I am looking forward the day to see you before long.

March 20, 1958

Dear Madam:

It was indeed a pleasure to receive your letter of March 11, and I am very glad to have an opportunity to write to you.

First I must apologize for not having answered earlier, but what with mid-terms and work, I have been very busy.

I am very happy to inform you that I am accepting your invitation to the informal meal.

The arrangement which you suggested to pick me up at the Student Union at 3:30, Saturday, April 5, is quite satisfactory.

I am looking forward the day to see you soon.

1958 Alice Nugent letter -Jan.13

We visited the Nugents on the 1962 trip to the Seattle World's Fair.  Think they were living in Seattle then, but could be wrong.  The memorable part of the visit was that the family was on a gluten free (?) diet, or some such restrictions as when their children discovered we had bread in the car, they gobbled it all up in very short order.

We surely enjoyed your Christmas note, & were so happy to hear all the news of you-all – imagine!  A new home and a son all in the same year!  Three cheers!  Do you live very far from your other place? 

You must be busy indeed with four – but aren't they fun?  We've enjoyed the picture of your little girls that were on other Christmas cards – they look like you.  Does John?

Rickey-Bug had a fall at Christmas – next year he'll really have comprehension of what's going on.

Now that Rickey's two he finally beginning to talk & his vocabulary is growing quite well.

Carl's on surgery now & it's hard work, but he likes it.  I'm busy sewing at the moment with church activities & folk-dancing keeping my time full.

Do squeeze a minute to write me a line!  I think of you often.  Have fun!
