1980? GHU Letter to Roberta -Feb.24

 Sun. afternoon -24th
[most likely Feb.24, 1980]

Dear Roberta --

By this time hopefully the rains have let up & you & Marion can find a path around the boxes if not completely unpacked.  It does take a little time to get things in place & then may be change them & then wonder where you put things so don't become discouraged.  Aunt Mary wonders where she put this & that because we put many things in safe places out of the reach of the boys before they come on the 11th.  They plan to stay until the 20th of March.  The first weeks' weather simply didn't cooperate.  But this week has been very nice & to-day is a real Fla. day until about 4 oclock it started to get cloudy & now at 4:45 it looks as if it could pour down rain.

We enjoy hearing about your work & looks or rather sounds as if you are getting along just fine.  When you refer to some of the Ladies who just sit & don't enter into anything, that is just natural for some people so don't let it worry you.  Aunt Sarah just sits & wishes she was dead & the head nurse says she refuses to go into the lounge room for a change.  She is mad about the price she pays -- $32 - a day.

The church had their annual roast beef dinner last evening with a good turn out.  Aunt M. had 13½# roast to fix.  We cut it into 2 pieces so as to get it in a pan that fit the oven.  Then she helped in the kitchen & Uncle B. helped with the coffee.  After the rest of us ate we drove out to the Beach to see fire works at 7:30.  There has been a Fair at the Beach & Park & that was why the fire-works.  For 3 days no parking along the Beach so that was hard for people who wanted to swim.

Aunt M. & Uncle B. are thinking & I guess have decided to take a trip for 3 weeks to visit Joseph in Arabia.  Uncle B. not too enthusiastic so Aunt M. is trying to map out the trip.  Joe is very anxious for them to come as he has moved into a very modern apt. & has 2 bed rooms.  Aunt M. wants to go to several other countries while away for 3 weeks.  They plan to go in April.

We are eating strawberries for Marianne, Aunt M. & the boys with me sitting in the car have been to the farm twice.  Both times we came home with 9# @$1.00 per lb. they are lovely.  Also made some non-cook jelly or rather jam.  Very good.  Next time you want to make some good cookies quickly use a non bake receipt (recipe).  They are very good.

Had a card from your family mailed on their way home from N.Y.  Keep well --

Love, Grandma
