1983 WV Postcard - June 1

Thurmond, WV postcard mailed 1983.  Captioned: Thurmond, West Virginia.  Located on the New River Gorge National River in Fayette County, Thurmond was once known as the "Dodge City of the East."  Thurmond is visited b thousands of white-water rafters each year who enjoy rafting the oldeest river in the world and the best rapids in the East.
[postmarked June 1, 1983]
On trip with the Goodings - his 4th, her 3rd & our 1st rafting excursion.  Mild trip was today with rough rapids tomorrow but had good taste today.  Really got soaked – glad to see the sun finally come out – have had lot of laughs & making pleasant memories.  Hope someday to try the Deschutes w/ you.  The Hortons are leaving 6/2/83 for L.W.  The year is going quickly & it is still wet.  Hard to get any garden out - tho our strawberries look promising.  Love, all the Uibles
