Banana Split Festival
HH's Diary 1989-1999 [lightly edited]
Wednesday 1989 - Jean and I went to Hillsboro on legal business – she "loves" (ha ha) to check titles. Left at 5pm, we were going to eat at Muggy but after looking at the menu changed our minds. Ate at Dockside 6. Light meals were $9.95, salad bar $1.95 extra. Still building multi-tier parking garage $1 first 30 minutes, then 75¢ for each additional 30 minutes.
Thursday 1990 - [Turkey]
Friday 1991 - Old building in Wilmington all torn down for the site of the new city building.
Sunday 1992 - Because of rain Community church services at the Church of Christ. Sid Clay preached on: "What's in a name"? The Bell Choir played and the Butlers sang.
Monday 1993 - Hortons leave for Lancaster PA for [Robert Kintner's] HS graduation, We went out to see John Hughes, his face appears bloated, but very interesting to talk with. Hard to get GHU to eat, but she loves the strawberries. Busy day at the office. Getting ready for 1994 prices.
Tuesday 1994 - After a stop in Wilmington we had lunch at Chester Road House, most specials were $8.95. Then to Dr. Hoffman office for a hearing test, we both have some hearing loss but not serious. Had some certification today at Montgomery Library. So we went to a nearby library. Met the Sankers at the Echo Restaurant in Hyde Park. Entrees $5.95. Made a brief stop at the new Joseph Beth Bookstore, has been open 6 months. Bought Colorado book.
Wednesday 1995 - [Elderhostel Marine Expeditions program through 6/27]
Friday 1996 - [Elderhostel program to Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary, returning 6/22]
Saturday 1997 - Banana split festival in Wilmington. I had volunteered to work for 2 hours at the Pepsi Booth for Leadership Clinton, auction for medical building in NV – no bids. Ken Weller all excited about his 18 speed bike, he can now do 3 miles. Tom Young brought a limb mulcher, a 5hp, takes up to ½" stuff. Called MUH, said Lorraine Marco [?] Basco [?] was at the same complex.
Monday 1999 - Took car to body shop on SR-247 in Hillsboro, GG brought me back. Had a call from Serena about 7:30am, she was getting ready to leave Asheville. Then a call about 6pm that she was in Clinton TN and would spend the night there. We went on a walk around Steele Ct, across the tracks and got a lot of trash. Pastor Mike's Dad operated on today. Our Bible School opened. Had our first broccoli out of the garden.
