Serena resigns from Greenville Library

HH's Diary 1989-1999 [lightly edited]

Monday 1984 - Gerry Morgan starts work today at Jones Truck and Implement in Colfax, WA.  [He was hired as parts manager to replace a man who then decided he couldn't afford to retire and kept working.  They kept Gerry on for two years and the guy still didn't retire and out of loyalty to the long term employee, Gerry was laid off in 1986, looked for job in Colfax area for six months then we decided to move to AZ.]

Sunday 1989 - [Joe, Mares, Robert and Wes visiting] Church services downtown, dinner at Senior Citizens, $4.  Multi-county square dance Jamboree in Wilmington.

Monday 1990 - [Turkey]

Tuesday 1991 - Serena called, she has resigned Greenville [library position] and will be starting in Hamilton on 7/11/91.

Thursday 1992 - Bob Sears and Clara en route to Tucson for their new home.  Their van blew up in Fort Worth.  The Hendersons went with them.

Friday 1993 - Article in WSJ today about investing at 3 different ages, at any age keep some in stocks.  Tearing down the old Bob & Carl's for a Bob Evans Restaurant.

Saturday 1994 - Our church had the Chicken BBQ at the firehouse – 300 half chickens, $5 & $3 [children], serving from 4-7.  We got home about 8:30.  My blood pressure 108/70.  Visited with George and Helen Schilling at dinner.

Sunday 1995 - The "crew" [MV and youth group from Somerset] was up before 7:00 and they gave a good program at church.  Had SS lesson on Esther 2:19-3:15.  We had a buffet lunch here for the group before they left.

Tuesday 1996 - [ElderHostel program to Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary, returning 6/22]

Thursday 1998 - [Williamsburg VA to Washington PA] Left Williamsburg  about 10:00 and reached Lancaster PA about 4:00 where we left MUH with the Kintners.  Drove the turnpike to Washington PA where we [arrived and] had room 109 at the Hampton Inn at 8pm.  Had crackers and peanut butter for supper.  Rt. 68 through MD sure beat the turnpike, not to mention the $6.85 toll.
