1910 May Calendar postcard

Uncle Dorsey received a lot of postcards in this era, most advertisements such as this one.  Presumably he shared them with his younger sister, our grandmother, Gladys Hiestand Uible.

As a refresher to his place in the family:

  • Dorsa D. Hiestand was born Dec. 31, 1876, died March 10, 1959.  He is the great-uncle of the Uible-Horton cousins.
  • He was the third child of Ira Franklin (1851-1912) and Mary Ellen Fawley Hiestand (1853-1929).
  • His siblings:
    Harry Clarence Hiestand (1872-1967)
    Luna Hiestand Mitchell (1874-1970),

  • Married Margery Herrell (1881-1969) from Missouri on May 10, 1904 in Johnson, Missouri.  Before 1910 the family had moved to Hillsboro.
  • Dorsa and Margery had four children who would be 1st cousins 1x removed:
