1952 CJU Letter -Feb.5

 2-5-52

Dear Harold & All:

Your letters received and noted.  Was sure glad to know that our Jan sales were so good.  That was the first month since March 1951 that our sales amounted to more than the amt I paid out.  If we can have 3 or 4 good months it will put us in pretty good shape and help us to go forward.  But I was beginning to feel like a whipped dog and made it look like our judgment was very bad.

Regarding giving the chains (who have a wholesale operation) the wholesale price I think we should do that as far as extra 5% bonus that should be left up to situations involved.  If necessary to get the business then I would do it, otherwise not.  As for the toy show will leave that up to Bill.  If he thinks it would be wise and profitable then we should go and see what we can do.  Nothing like trying.  You can see Bill's trip has been well worth while and gives light for the future.  Seems to me all it takes will be a little diligent hard work for 2 or 3 years to get established then it won't be near so hard to hold our trade positions and we can have a little business that any one would be proud to own and it would be profitable and a pleasure to operate.  We are looking forward to seeing you the last of this month.  Yes I do miss our T.V. as well as Catherine and all of you.  We won't have any trouble finding a place to stay.  You might bring the Feb Stock guide book.  It comes about the 10th or 12th of the month.  Jan was our second best mo.
