Before the party came the preparation, and here is Roberta admiring Catherine's first attempt at baking. Roberta was the assistant. Note the fashionable aprons, especially the off-the-shoulder style modeled by Catherine.
Roberta & Catherine - C's first attempt at baking, May 1955. Roberta looks happy but Catherine's thinking she could have done better, or maybe "'ugh' it's chocolate" .

On an unrelated note, while searching for information on Martha and Leone Petit [found nothing], I found a reference to [Aunt] Mary Uible at Ward-Belmont School in Nashville, Tennessee in 1932. She is mentioned as a cellist in the Ward-Belmont Orchestra, a member of the Agora Club [a "tribal" club, like a sorority I presume], and as a Boarding Student in the Senior Class. Ward-Belmont College, also known as a "ladies' seminary," suffered financial constraints in 1951 and was sold to the Tennessee Baptist Convention who established Belmont University on the property, which had originally been the antebellum estate of Adelicia Acklen.
