April 10, 1989-99

Wages in 1948

HHU's Diary 1989-1999 [lightly edited]

Monday 1989 - [Cross-country bike ride San Diego to Jacksonville continues through May 5]

Tuesday 1990 - Really a wet day.  Mother's appetite nil.  Called Hortons -- Bill is having trouble with his knee, Cris still looking for a job and has problem deciding of whether to move to Lake Worth or somewhere else.

Wednesday 1991 - Can play Pomp and Circumstance [on the piano] fairly well.

Saturday 1993 - Mowed grass for first time [this year].

Sunday 1994 - [Roberta visiting]

Monday 1995 - Leon and Esther Salisbury took us to Cincinnati to see the presentation "The Living Cross" at the Springdale Church of the Nazarene at 11177 Springfield Pike where Carol is a member, had to sit in the balcony.  We ate at Red Lobster.  New furniture and computer set-up in the Probate Court and Recorders office.

Wednesday 1996 - Jean had Women's Club at the Wooden Spoon -- long program by Mrs. Joe Woods on their trip to Australia and New Zealand -- 2 hours+ including video they had taken.  Reminded Jean of that program years ago on covered bridges*.  Both Catherine and Roberta called.  Roberta was really excited about Robbins and Myers going up.

Thursday 1997 - Milburn dissolution hearing.  Jean working at Senior Citizens.   Went square dancing, 3 squares.  Elsie Satterfield has moved with Tom Gibson.  Ran across old Wells PR from 1948, basic wage was 55¢/hour, top was Manager for $42/week.

*HH adds in 2011: The covered bridge program was so long it was funny.  Pictures of all these covered bridges from each end, each side AND in every season of the year.
