1980 Roberta Letter -Feb.2

Sunday pm
[2/2/80]
Dear Family,

Hi -- want to get this off tomorrow AM so hopefully you will get it before departing to NYC.

It's sure been a busy week -- between work, school & the idea of moving -- I'm never sure what my time should go for.  We've really gotten the boxes filled this weekend -- but still lots to do!

This Tuesday we have tickets for Bill Gaither Trio [?] -- ASU -- Row 14 middle section.  Not quite as good as last year -- remember Mary Virginia?  No -- it was Evie we all went to when you were here -- she will be out here March 15th.

When are Sankers coming out?  I never heard back from Lowell -- but we are (were) on the go all day.

Have ordered a 22 cubic foot side-by-side refrigerator -- a GE.  The other appliances are also GE.  Not getting the water/ice deal on the door -- but am getting ice maker installed ($59 extra).  Sure will be nice to have ready made ice cubes.

Dr. Sears (1st Meth.) fell over a fence he had around his garden -- meant to scare off the rabbits.  He broke -- cracked whatever 5 ribs -- he's been home -- guess unable to even talk w/out pain.

Friday afternoon an active member of 1st United Meth. was murdered in his barbershop, held up for some $100!  There have really been lots of murders in Mesa in 1980 -- like 5 or 6.  One being a 14-year-old who lived not far from Madeyes [?].

Sure wish you all were out here to see the completed (inside) house!  The outside tho -- it still is -- well -- a mess!  We've been trying to figure out about the back yard -- to put in grass or rocks.  Think we will probably go for the grass -- be much better for Buffy -- & cooler for us!

Sorry about all the confusion on the checks -- Thanks!

Love,
Roberta
