1982 Madras (Oregon) Pioneer Clipping

In 1978 Catherine, Gerry and Wendy moved to Madras, Oregon. After working two years as an apartment manager in the apartment complex where we lived, I also worked for a year in the County Assessor's Office, and less than a year as a dental office receptionist before the Library Director position opened up in the fall of 1981.  Caption transcribed below.

FUND-RAISER MONIES – Bonnie Grote, chairman of the 1981 Jefferson County Christmas Bazaar organization, right, presents a check for $100 to Al Short, representing the Jefferson County Fair Board, and $50 to Cathy Morgan, Jefferson County Librarian.  The money donated to the fair board and the county library was raised by the Christmas bazaar organization.

I would not have recognized you other than reading the caption....longer hair and no glasses!

Yes, and as Dad pointed out, my hair was darker then. I wore contacts until we moved to Arizona, too dry here for my eyes.

As with you and your rainbow sweater, I'm wearing one of my favorite sweaters in the picture. Must have worn it out or it would still be in my wardrobe!
