Nice trip to Beijing & really modern rooms @ this Friendship [?] Hotel -- even w/ a large Olympic pool. The city is getting ready for the Asian games which begin 9/22.
There are 23 in our group -- 9 of them are from Calif.
Enjoying the Chinese foods & getting used to the chopsticks -- it does slow down my eating speed. We have a thermos of hot & cold water in our room, plus a Kenmore refrigerator. Eng. channel on T.V. We will see "T" (drawing of box) [Tiananmen Square] today & Great Wall later.

Arrived yesterday in Beijing after overnight near Tokyo. Began to sightsee today -- take a train to Shijiazhuang tomorrow. Will study Chinese language a little, exercise the Chinese way -- Tai ji.
Plenty of rice & other goodies to eat, had English papers on plane to read & English T.V. Channel in the hotel room even an icebox bar. There is glue in the room if needed for the stamps. Love, J & H
