Dad's Diary 1989-1999 [lightly edited]
Saturday 1989 - Jean and Wendy got back from Tremont Institute and me from O.U. ElderHostel in Athens. Then went to Fairview BBQ, $4.75. Raspberries are ready to be picked.
Monday 1991 - The Morgans went for golf at Rocky Fork, we met them for a picnic at Roadside Park on US 62 north of Hillsboro. 62 is being paved through Hillsboro. Trimmed shrubbery in front of house.
Wednesday 1992 - Had Mother over at noon for birthday party, she can still blow out the candles. The Morgans made home made ice cream, eight of us went to Murphin Ridge for supper. Bill stayed in NV to play bridge. We were going to get the natural finish chairs but thought they needed another coat of finish.
Thursday 1993 - [Ginny visiting] Ginny seems to enjoy walking by herself, about 6' is her maximum and she chuckles as she does it. Another 90° day. Ginny really loves bananas. Mother still in hospital.
Friday 1994 - Picked first two tomatoes. Gene and Barry Williams putting in 200 amp service at the parsonage. Harold Schatz here to help on computer. He charges $30/hour.
Saturday 1995 - [ElderHostel Marine Expeditions program through 6/27]
Thursday 1999 - First sign of actual zucchini, also tomatoes turning pink. Item in WNJ where Samuel Walkers Restaurant just gong to do banquets, etc., no regular menu. It opened in August 1996. Item in paper about Jeb Bush's wife lying to customs officer about purchases in Paris, actually $19,000 and she said $500. Said she didn't want her husband to know. Made reservations at Mansion on Turtle Creek [in Dallas for after reunion in Santa Fe coming up in July 1999], saw internet special for $145, regular rates start at $400.
