St. Paul's Cathedral, London: During the Second World War when fire and destruction laid waste all around, St. Paul's Cathedral survived as if by a miracle. When the smoke and dust had cleared away, Londoners saw their cathedral as they has never seen it before, free from the encroachment of tightly-packed office blocks. St. Paul's was Sir Christopher Wren's masterpiece it took him 35 years to build from 1675-1710. |

Dear family,
Arrived in London this morning. Quick walk through the city and now I'm on a train for York and Edinburgh. My flight reservation is for Tuesday June 26th -- arrive at JFK at 1:30 p.m. Plan to go to the farm same evening or by next morning (Wed.) Look forward to seeing you soon.
Love, John
Will Bert be at the farm before Friday? If she's not I'll fly.
