Caption: GARNER MEMORIAL BUILDING, UVALDE, TEXAS 78801 Former home of Ex-Vice President John Nance Garner. The home is dedicated to the memory of the late Ettie R. Garner, wife and secretary of Mr. Garner.
[Trivia facts of the day: Garner was VP during the first eight years (1933-1941) of Franklin Roosevelt's presidency. He didn't think Roosevelt should seek a 3rd term and ran against him in the primary election. On Garner's 95th birthday, November 22, 1963, John F. Kennedy called to wish him a Happy Birthday. Kennedy was killed a few hours later. Garner lived another four years, dying in November 1967.] |

Remember this town from our trip in '37. We all enjoyed San Antonio. Rented a water bike, takes some real energy. Air C. in car is wonderful. Will be in El Paso tomorrow - & across to Mexico. Went down back road today to see the Rio Grande R. & Mexico. Hope you are enjoying garden. J&H
