1942 - Obituary of W.D. Uible - Oct. 2

William David "W.D." or "Will" Uible, brother of Cecil "C.J." Uible, lived in New Vienna in the early 1900s, moved to Cuba prior to 1910, possibly after a fire destroyed his livery stable and several other buildings in New Vienna, and moved to Leesburg prior to 1930.   His oldest son, Frank Rutledge Uible, graduated from New Vienna High School in 1912.  Transcription and more notes follow.

W.D. Uible

W.D. Uible, 73, died Tuesday [September 29, 1942] at 6:30 P.M.. at his home in Leesburg.  Mr. Uible had been in ill health for several months and death resulted from a lingering illness.  At one time Mr. Uible was a road contractor, but later had been engaged in farming.

Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church in Leesburg, Friday at 2 P.M., conducted by Rev. C.A. Arthur.  Burial will be made in the cemetery at Leesburg.

Surviving are his wife [Verda May Barger Uible], two sons, Frank Uible, of Cleveland, Russell, of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister Mrs. Cerena [Serena] Reynolds, of Los Angeles, Calif., and two brothers, Frank Uible of Cincinnati, and Cecil Uible, of New Vienna.

Uncle Will was the oldest of the Uible siblings, born in 1869 to David Uible (1845-1926) and Sarah Elizabeth (Angel?) Smith Uible (1841-1890).  He had an older half-sister, Addie (1862-?) by his mother who had been previously married, five brothers and two sisters:

  3. Ennis Harris Uible 1877-1910
  4. Clyde Uible 1879-1906
  5. George C Uible 1880-1906
  6. Cecil J Uible 1883-1969
  7. Serena Uible Reynolds 1884-1963
Will married Ida Stouder (?) and had two sons, Frank Rutledge 1895-1974 and Russell Lionel 1896-1983.  In 1902 he married Jennie Case Moon Brown, they were divorced in 1920.  Sometime before 1930 he married Aunt Vertie, Verda May Burton Barger Uible (1879-1966).  She had previously been married to Harry Quincy Barger (1871-1916).
