Granddad's belated birthday

July 1941. Cadillac parked on a Chicago street.

When did Granddad start driving black Cadillacs? I can imagine him driving around in this one.

Happy 115th Birthday, Granddad!

I can't say I remember the Cadillacs. Of course when Grandad died I was still in junior high. I think Grandma's last car was cream colored, but I couldn't tell you the maker. I think Roberta "inherited" it when Grandma's car days were over.

I do remember driving Grandma to appointments, etc. She was not overly enthusiastic about my driving.

It was cream colored and it was a Buick Century. I can't believe there's something I remembered that Serena didn't! Granddaddy drove a Cadillac or more than one? Since I was 4 when he died, I don't remember squat...

Car models and makes are like babies who can't talk - not all that interesting.

Info from Dad about Granddad's cars:
Their last car was a Buick. Dad had a couple of Packards and a Lincoln in the mid-thirties when we went to CA in 1935. We have a picture somewhere of CJ getting out of the Cadillac in front of Wells. Wen I was a kid he had an Essex for a work car, then later a Ford coupe, which we inherited and we put you in the window sill.

Perhaps I bored you earlier about Uncle Bill's old Chev.which Mary and I drove out to Seattle, where Bill was stationed in the fall of 1944. Recall the bumper coming loose on one end which we used some bailing wire tgo keep it together. From there I thumbed down to Stanford.

Reading this five years later I feel the need to add that would have been Granddad's 125th Birthday as 2013 makes 130 years. Memories are still fresh though.
