Wednesday afternoon
Dear John,Hi! Thanks for your letter and the latest news briefs about YAF. I have seen two newspaper articles about YAF in the last few months. One was about Buckley being named chairman or something and the other was the YAF's stand on the Bakke issue – I forget now what YAF's stand is but I did read the article. [Bakke issue = Regents of the Univ. of Cal. v Bakke, Supreme Court decision of September 1977 upheld affirmative action but determined that racial quotas were impermissible.]
On the baby scene, your niece (or neice?) is doing just fine. She is really getting bigger. She is eating cereal now and smiling a little and she goes to sleep about 10 at night and sleeps until 6. If I remember I'll stick some pictures in with this letter – altho you probably saw some while you were in New Vienna.
How was your weeks vacation? What did you do in the old home town? Did you run the shop while Dad was gone? And now it is back to the old grind until when – Christmas? Or do you get a long weekend over Thanksgiving?
Gerry is doing fine – still very much disliking his job but nothing new has turned up yet. We haven't gotten a babysitter yet but we have gone out several times and taken Wendy with us. She does pretty well. Alot of times if we go out to eat she will be real quiet until they bring our food and then she'll start to cry so that one of us will have to hold her. It won't be too long she'll be able to sit in a high chair and eat by herself when we go out.
Hope to hear from you again soon!
Love,
Cathy, Gerry,
& Wendy
