1980 Roberta's Letter -Oct.9

Not to be confused with Roberta attending college in Oregon in 1970, in 1980 she and Grandma are on a road trip in Oregon.

Wednesday pm

Hi! Getting along fine -- spent last night in McMinnville -- then went up to Tillamook -- known for its cheese -- took the scenic drive -- was really pretty.

Also enjoying the nice COOL weather!  Tonight in Coos Bay.

Had no trouble getting the Hertz car -- in fact they only wanted me to put down $130 dollars -- we got Toyota 5-speed-lift top in the back.  Put the seats down & works great w/ the wheel chair!  I'm sharing the apples w/ the Morgans -- brought a bag full.

We bought gas tonight -- averaged out to 39 mpg -- so can't complain.  Lots of people were renting cars to go up & see Mt. St. Helens -- but I couldn't interest G'Ma in that.

Grandma went out to the center twice -- think she enjoyed both times.  Esp. enjoying seeing the seniors exercise -- that's more like a comedy show.  More later --
