Dearest Catherine, Grandma & Granddaddy,
There were nine 7th grade girls in the choir this morning and we missed seeing you there. Nancy Henderson's cousin was visiting and she was there with eight of your pals. The choir had a special number and sounded real good. There were 192 in Sunday School with a collection a little less than $50.00. It was erroneously reported that we had gone to Florida too.
Everyone asked if you got off alright. Roberta said many asked her why she didn't go or if she missed Catherine. (She does but will only admit it when I get her to help with the dishes).
Linda Shaffer just left. She went to MYF with Roberta and Mr. Shaffer picked her up here after seeing her saxophone.
Mrs. Schamaun was here yesterday. She had come down to get a permanent and the boys were at the Fawleys. Their present home is quite small and at the opposite end of West Jefferson from Darby-Crest. [?]
Greg has been riding a horse belonging to a neighbor and is saving money to buy one of his own -- long slow process.
Queenie had four puppies -- they sold one -- the only male, plan to keep one and hope to sell the other two. Of course their pedigree is registered with the American Kennel Club, etc. I offered to take one if they would care to give any away but not interested in paying $75 for one.
Appreciated your card mailed at Berea and hope to hear from you if only a card every few days.
Hope you all arrived safely as well as the cabbage & the cello. Anxious to hear how everything is with the Hortons and we're counting the days til Christmas.
Study hard, read some but enjoy the sunshine - we'd sure like to have some up here.
Glad to get your two cards this morning, Lenoir City & Valdosta. Noticed the "X" marks on your hotel room.
Love to you and all,
Mother
