1989 Family Letter -Jan.10

January 10, 1989

Dear Family:

We are getting used to writing 1989, the year 2000 will be a bigger adjustment.  One of my goals this year is to become more proficient with the piano, even a little practice makes me appreciate that talent of playing.

Jean had another of her six Saturday morning meetings in Wilmington last Saturday morning in the preparation for the Emmaus walk, which is the last weekend of this month.  From there we went on to Waynesville for  lunch and then walked "thru" the umpteen antique shops in the area.  It is a real mecca if one is "hep" in that area.

Sunday we met the Goodings for lunch, then went to a Church meeting in Milford, which was good.  There were 5 of us from N.V.  Yes, our Church did pay 100% of our 1988 apportionments.  Last night was the administrative board meeting and it was reported that we have 62 of the needed 100 hymnals paid for.  (100 tonite thanks to UMW + others).

Last Wednesday Dad was on the Lions Club Committee for the dinner, which went real well.  He had invited the Clinton Co. Probate Judge to give the program and we had lots of questions.

G.G. was back on the job yesterday after two weeks in Florida.  They talked with the Lippmans there in Naples and also brought us some nice fruit.

[following was added to John's copy]

John – appreciated your call – we sure don't want to impose on Mark on either NY or FL.  In fact we live just as long, etc. even if we don't get to NYC, but do plan to go to LW to see the family.

See you on the 27th, John – unless the weather is really SOUR – we are overdue on bad weather coming.

Love,
Mother & Dad
