[Lucie's 68th Birthday]
Dearest Mother – and Daddy tooThis isn't much of a birthday remembrance but we want you to know that we are thinking about you and appreciate all the many, many, many things you have done for me and for us.
Miss Cutter called today and wanted us to go to a church dinner tomorrow night but we felt the need for studying. Told her we were interested in a church affair anytime after these sixteen days.
We are hoping to get to New Cumberland the first weekend in June – 5th & 6th I believe unless you have other plans – was that the time Ord Lough wanted you to go to Fairmont?
Mrs. S. G. Evans sent us three lovely flowered guest towels – 2 white and one yellow. Plan to thank her soon. We also received in the same mail a letter containing $5 from the family of one of Harold's friends in New Vienna. Monday a former roommate in Stanford sent us a lovely round lace doily which adds much to our little end table with the lamp.
Do you suppose you might get me a driver's license application for W. Va.? Mine expires June 1st and I'm anxious to get this fixed up before I have to take another test for it there. I'm planning on seeng about an Ohio license tomorrow. Hope a test won't be necessary – either written or practical.
No doubt you've sent the pictures back to Nossets [?]. We are counting on getting the negatives back or we would want nearly one of each except the one where Robbie is not making a face – for the group as a whole are best in the other (the one where he is turning up his nose). Would appreciate your checking on this.
Hope these favors aren't too much trouble for you. Best wishes for a very happy happy birthday and many, many more of them.
Very best love,
Jean and Harold
