After having supper at the Uibles in August 1973, the Jack Walkers (most likely Virginia) wrote a thank you note. Transcription follows.
[August 1973]
Dear Uibles,
Thank you once again for a most enjoyable evening. The dinner was delicious and our guest was very impressed with you all. It was nice of you to entertain her (and us) in your home.
Sincerely,
The Walkers

From Patty: In August 1973 I was getting ready for my second year of teaching at Sabina - living in a nice double in Washington Court House.
I was also very much in love with Jim Ryan- so probably not real aware of what was going on with the family in New Vienna!
However, I know about that time they had a Japanese exchange student living with the family through the Lions Club program.
and that is my guess as to the identity of the guest! Very kind of a fellow Lion family to add to the experiences of the Japanese girl by entertaining the Walkers. But not me - I was way too cool to be doing something like that! So I can't answer what was on the menu.
My kids had exchange students stay at our house, for shorter 2 week periods, and we loved all of them. Exchanged letters for awhile, but have since lost touch. Now wonder how they are doing/what their lives have become.
