Dear Family:
We keep thinking of our theme song
Tuesday morning was the trip to the airport to get Roberta on her way West . . . with her bike. From there the family went on to Ansonia, Ohio for Rev. Kuntzman's funeral . . he was 84. It was an opportunity for Serena to see the family again. Elizabeth Johnson went along with Serena and her Mother.
Serena left us Wednesday A.M. for Chicago and plans to return to NV in three weeks for her graduating class 10th anniversary. Time does move quickly and behooves all of us to make better use of it. What is more perishable?
Yesterday morning we worked in the garden before breakfast and really got our compost pile filled up with weeds, etc. etc. The broccoli is heading up now and the tomatoes are the size of a thumb. After working over the garden picked two quarts of raspberries, mowed the yard and suddenly in was supper time.
We read in the paper about a diet that was suppose to help with jet lag . . . starting four days before one leaves and alternating feast and fast days, with the day you leave being a "fast" day. We leave Columbus tomorrow at 2:30 P.M. and NYC at 9, so it will be a late
N.V.'s annual 4th of July celebration is on . . . had community Church services on the "Square" today and then we went to Leesburg for lunch. Saw Rev. Paul Steele, his wife and daughter there . . . it was 1953 when he was in NV and received his divinity degree. He is now the pastor of the Washington C.H. UMC. While down at Mothers this afternoon Clara Lynd made a quick stop.
Change of writers and just want to add that Rev. K planned his own service - about the only thing missing was the Texas and golfers joke that he usually told. Revelation was mentioned and the Ansonia minister said that he was really overzealous - and they often had friendly arguments about theology. Tom was there from Columbus (worked for Yellow Pages there). Al, Val and their four children flew back from England. Karol and her husband but he was minus his beard this time. Rev. K's daughter, Jody's husband sang How Great Thou Art and granddaughter read a poem.
Talked to Aunt Virginia & she said the wedding was beautiful - both Mary Ellen & Sarah were matrons of honor & Maureen had 3 other girls for bridesmaids. Tom gave her away & by the way he is being transferred to Chicago & will be moving there soon.
During the week of July 17th we will be at "Bakkerne", Scandinavian Seminar College, Holte, Denmark. [Holte is a suburb of Copenhagen.]
[love, etc.]
