Dear Mother and Dad,Hi! Well, here I am at my computer class again! Later this morning I have an appointment to get a perm. Since I worked four hours on Sunday I only have to work four hours today and that will be from 5-9 tonight. I'm going out to lunch with Gerry and then hope to go for a bike ride this afternoon before picking Wendy up from school this afternoon.
As I think you already heard we did get the license for the Buick and now have it parked in our driveway since Serena has been using the bus to get to the County Hospital. We really appreciate your generosity – it's a great car!
We picked out our carpet, vinyl, countertops, and ceramic tile for the entryway last week. We picked a beige color carpet, not as light as we had originally planned but not dark either. We went for the best upgrade of padding after talking to some other people who were more knowledgeable about such things! The ceramic tile is a little lighter than the carpet with the grout to match the carpet. The tile also has a faint pattern around the edges which looked attractive to us. We picked a brick pattern vinyl for the kitchen with dark brown and beige colors. And a smaller blue pattern for Wendy's bath (she especially requested blue). The counter tops are going to be almond. The hardest decision still seems to be the window coverings and we're not sure what we are going to do. Do you have any suggestions? We have been thinking about verticals for some of the windows and pleated shades with solarized backing for the windows that face west. (The sun gets pretty hot here!)
Wendy is taking a 4-H babysitting class through the library. There are four more hours to go this coming Saturday afternoon and then she will have a certificate. And even more exciting for her is that she has already gotten her first job! The 4-year-old son of one of the other Youth Librarians is coming to our house this Wednesday evening from 6:30-9. They live about 15 miles west of the library so it wouldn't be too practical to take Wendy there for a short stay and this way she can get experience on her home ground. They have lots of animals so Wendy is looking forward to going there some day in the near future.
The library's 4th-6th grade B.R.A.T. Pack is having there sleepover at the library on Friday night. It looks like we're going to have around 20 kids so it should be a lively evening. They are to arrive around 7 Friday night (after dinner, although we plan to have pizza later in the evening) and leave at 8 Saturday morning.
Love,
Catherine, Gerry & Wendy
