On October 13, 1973, the Cincinnati Enquirer's salute of outstanding carriers included John, who is pictured below. The part about John has been transcribed. Amazingly the article does not mention (for space reasons?) the role and influence of John's sisters in training him to be an outstanding carrier.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Uible
John started on his route in September 1964, is a Sophomore at East Clinton High, where he maintains an "A" average. He is a member of the Band, French Club and and [sic] is Student School Librarian. He was co-Editor of the school newspaper and is a regular on the Honor Roll.
John was an Eagle Scout at the age of 14 and had accumulated 47 merit badges. He received the "God and Country" and "Gold Quill" awards and was senior Patrol Leader. He also received the Outstanding Leadership scholarship. At the present time he is conducting an independent study under the guidance of Mr. Greer, East Clinton County Superintendent, exploring the history of political parties.
