(from http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cd/Two_american_alligators.jpg) (not a photo of Aunt Mary's alligator, nor Adams')One of the podcasts I listened to this morning talked about White House pets - dogs, a turkey (thus began the Thanksgiving tradition of pardoning a turkey every year, not because of militant vegans), etc. They mentioned that there was a president who had a pet alligator.
Remember when Aunt Mary (Mary Hiestand in Hillsboro, wife of Harry) who had a pet alligator? She used to take it once in a while to Hillsboro elementary school for her class (5th grade maybe?). She had a great backyard with all kinds of bushes and stuff for the alligator to roam around and of course another favorite alligator place was the bathtub. I don't remember them having two bathrooms, so I assume that they all shared the bathtub - not at the same time, of course.

The alligators were before my time! I don't even remember an Aunt Mary other than seeing her name amongst the family tree. I like the big picture on the header of the blog---just takes an extra few seconds for it to load! :)
I think maybe I'll do a rotating photo for the blog - especially since there aren't that many of the 5 or seven of us.
I do find it interesting in the photo that KC is the only one looking at the camera.
Uncle Harry was in a wheelchair when I knew him and in his nineties. Mary, I think, was his second wife. I thought both of them were pretty fun - although the alligator was, I"m sure a big part of it.
