The joke MV referred to in email was actually about Franco - described in Wikipedia here. MV would have been too young to stay up to watch Saturday Night Live back then.

I do remember John saying that....but I have been racking (?) my brain and can't think of one single school bus story. Though I do remember quite well how Vanessa and I skipped school and went to Yellow Springs and then I paid the price for weeks to follow.......Roberta who had to labor today, or at least put in the time as we were so slow at one point I moved the car in front of Chez Nous so people would get the idea we were open! How long is a comment supposed to be????
Me again, I forgot to add that of course it was not my fault when it came to skipping school.......
Thanks for explaining the joke reference, Serena. I didn't get it and barely remember it for that matter. I do remember John's love for SNL though -- amazing he didn't turn out a bit more liberal.... Roberta, you can write as much in a comment as you want -- when you've got the words, better get them down. And why wasn't skipping school your fault?

Catherine, you weren't around - the way I heard it was the PRINCIPAL thought Roberta had been under the influence of unsavory elements (mainly Vanessa) and that she was less to blame. I think the principal was the one only one who believed that.

I can see (and hear) RUK and SU snickering at this point and JB trying more lines to get them to laugh MORE. Was the school skipping before or after BARNESVILLE? I never, ever EVER skipped school---at least until college, that is.
And the SNL comment re: Franco was one I remember hearing JB and Nick Wallen dissolve into laughter about, primarily on a trip to Chicao, as I recall. No, I wasn't allowed to stay up late enough to watch SNL. And when I finally was, I didn't really enjoy it other than Rosanne, Rosanna Danna.
The school skipping was Roberta's senior year - about a month or so before graduation. She had to sign in at the office between EVERY class OR ELSE.
I think the OR ELSE was her father would kill her.
The only thing I can really remember JB quoting was the "I'm Chevy Chase and you're not." Which he must have said hundreds of time - or so it seemed.

Yes, let's hear it from Serena.....the signing in before and after classes was only for two weeks, between the skipping and grauduation! I really think it was that the office staff wanted to see more of me......
